Loved it, loved it. This was a beautiful classy story. The characters were believable, sincere, and caring. Although the ending of the story was prefect; I wanted to read more. I did enjoy reading this book, but got frustrated at the grammatical errors ("... tell me what the devil I done to deserve that write off.") There were also unfinished sections. For example, Estelle was upset about something, but the reason was never revealed.
Too much mush for this day and age. Yes the Christian side was there and very good, but not enough adventure.
I get the impression that the author wanted to make everyone happy with this book, a little faith, a little sin... Early in the book, one of the main characters, Nick, prays before lunch with a new friend, asking God's blessing, and I thought this was a faith-based story. Later he 'makes love' (whitewash for premarital sex) with this new friend, and further into the book, he and his brother discuss adultery. They do decide it is a bad idea, but not because it is wrong, but because of the possible consequences. There is no suggestive description or vulgarity in the book, a plus, but I just couldn't get past the opposite behaviors. I think this could have been reconciled with confession, forgiveness, etc., or leaving out the part about prayer. Overall it is a good book about how tragedy changed a woman's life and how she moved on from it to find love and a family.
Book kept me interested from the first chapter, I couldn't put it down, had to know what happened, read it in 4 nights
It has a few sad parts to it, just like life itself. Then of course the happy parts that leave you with a smile on your face.
I am surprised that the author didn't revise some of the grammatical errors, since they have been mentioned over several years. The story was enjoyable, but the misuse of the word "done" and the fact that "alright" appeared in the book 78 times detracted from the story.
I didn't mind this story at all, but the grammatical errors were driving be nuts. Commas thrown in all over the place where they shouldn't have been. Also the font on my was very large. Not sure what pitch the author used but way too big.
I wouldn't particularly recommend this book.
